BYD launches new Battery-Box in Australia and New Zealand

Chinese automaker and battery manufacturer BYD has launched its new Battery-Box in Australia and New Zealand, offering modular scalability from 5kWh to 320kWh and deployable in residential and commercial situations, on- and off-grid installations, and emergency back-up energy supply systems.

The new BYD Battery-Box LV Flex 5.0 doubles the capacity of the brand’s previous model, the Battery-Box LV Pro 2.5, while maintaining a similar formfactor and including a dual-core and 4-level safety battery management system.

Scalable from a single 5kWh battery up to 320kWh with 64 systems in parallel, BYD’s new Battery-Box can operate at temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C.

BYD has launched its new Battery-Box LV Flex 5.0 in Australia and New Zealand to meet increased demand for off-grid storage applications and commercial storage projects across the region.

“The new system is based on the successful design of the Battery-Box Pro 2.5, which was launched in 2015. The system has proven to work very reliably and received extremely positive feedback from the Australian and New Zealand markets”, said Julia Chen, Global Director, BYD Battery-Box.

“The demand for the easy to install modular system is stronger than ever and our engineering team has taken the feedback we have received from partners and customers into account and combined it with the latest technology for the new system generation.

“The Battery-Box LV Flex also provides the highest capacity compared to any other modules with similar dimensions.”

The battery can be rack-mounted both horizontally or vertically, up to 4 battery units can even be stacked without any cabinet. The new Battery-Box’s cell-to-pack (C2P) technology also helps to achieve the battery’s higher capacity, lower volume, and long lifespan.
