Longi unveils new, high efficiency solar Hi-MO 7 module

Published by

Chinese solar PV giant Longi unveiled its latest Hi-MO 7 solar modules at the Energy Transition Conference 2023 in Malaysia, promising enhanced conversion efficiency, power temperature coefficient, and higher reliability.

The industry-wide race to increase the power and efficiency of solar modules is relentless, with the global standard for large-scale solar modules jumping from 500W just a couple of years ago to 600W in 2020-21 and now 700W.

The aim of the game is to reduce the already very low levelised cost of energy (LCoE) for large-scale solar projects, particularly as the world shifts up a gear in the rollout of renewable energy.

The latest Hi-MO 7 solar modules – the result of Longi’s continued development of its high-efficiency HPDC cell technology – have conversion efficiency of up to 22.5% and a maximum power output of 610W.

The official press release for the launch in Malaysia came only a few days after Longi showcased the Hi-MO 7 modules at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

“Its superior features, including conversion efficiency, power temperature coefficient, and reliability, contribute to reducing the LCOE for large-scale solar projects, delivering exceptional value and returns on investment,” Longi said in Thailand.

Similarly, Longi also introduced the Hi-MO 6 modules, purpose-built for distributed applications, with a maximum efficiency of 23.2%, demonstrating an average gain of 6.6% and 1.34% over monofacial modules utilising PERC and TOPCon cells, respectively.
