Australian rooftop solar company Smart Energy has been bought up by Rinnai Australia, a global leader in energy-efficient home heating and electric heat pump hot water solutions.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Byron Bay, Smart Energy is a rooftop solar and battery installer averaging over 100 installations a week, making it one of the largest residential PV companies in New South Wales.
Smart Energy says its acquisition by Rinnai comes off the back of a year of record sales and installations and will help build on its position in the home energy market, merging solar and battery storage with high quality electric heat pump technology.
Elliot Hayes, co-founder of Smart Energy, says Rinnai has a trusted presence in more than 20 global markets and a 50-year history in Australia.
“Our partnership with Rinnai will allow us to leverage its expertise in manufacturing and supply chain management to further enhance the quality of our products,” Hayes said on Tuesday.
“Together, we will drive innovation, improve operational efficiencies, and create even greater value for our customers.”
Rinnai Australia managing director Lucas van Raay says the acquisition of Smart Energy will expand the company’s portfolio to include renewable energy solutions, shifting it from being a specialist supplier to more of a one-stop shop.
“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our goal of delivering innovative and environmentally responsible solutions to Australian households and businesses,” van Raay said.
“By offering fully integrated solutions that combine energy efficiency with exceptional service and convenience, we are setting a new standard for the industry.”
