The HiKu Mono modules use mono-crystalline PERC technology to achieve a conversion efficiency of up to 20.37% and offer greater resistance to hotspots and better tolerance of shading.
“(The HiKu’s) dual cell, dual module design ensures higher power in a cooler module for safer, more reliable and efficient PV modules,” the company said on Monday.
“Keeping their cool under the Australian sun, the innovative Ku module design ensures the HiKu modules maintain a lower module operating temperature.
Canadian Solar says the modules promise up to 65°C lower temperature than full cell modules, making them a “safer, more reliable choice” for rooftop solar in sun-rich Australia.
“The HiKu Mono is an exciting new addition to our product range in Australia, offering class leading technology, exceptional power and efficiency,” said Canadian Solar Australia country manager Haydn Fletcher.
“Our expert local team pride themselves on consistently delivering high quality products and services to meet the needs of our customers.”
The HiKu joins a number of new and higher power-yielding solar modules recently released in Australia, including JinkoSolar’s up to 460W Tiger module, which also promises an efficiency of just over 20 per cent.
Longi, in August of 2019, launched its Hi-MO X, which ranges up to 400W and has a conversion rate of 20 per cent.
