World’s largest C&I rooftop solar PV plant, 120MW, installed in China

120MW C&I Rooftop PV Plant

Highlighting once again China’s dominant position as the world’s leading solar developer, an unnamed industrial park in the country’s Shandong province recently completed the installation of the world’s largest commercial & industrial rooftop solar PV plant.

Chinese inverter brand Sungrow says the newly completed rooftop solar project stretches across 43 rooftops with a total capacity of 120MW, generating as much as 110GWh per year – powering the industrial park itself but also feeding excess electricity into the grid.

Sungrow supplied its string inverters for the project, located in Jining, in China’s Shandong province, which featured a high protection capability necessary given the corrosive conditions and extreme heat of the industrial park.

Very little is known beyond the basics sketched out in Sungrow’s press release, and it is unknown who the developer of the project is or who are the tenants at the industrial park.

The 120MW C&I rooftop solar project will hopefully serve as an example for China’s mammoth industrial sector, as the country seeks to begin reducing its emissions before 2030 on its way to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
