JinkoSolar hits new efficiency high for N-type monocrystalline silicon cell

Chinese solar manufacturing giant JinkoSolar has hit yet another efficiency record, achieving a 26.1% maximum solar conversion efficiency for its 182 mm high-efficiency N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell.

Solar panel developers and manufacturers like JinkoSolar are forever testing and improving their solar cell technology so as to provide the most energy efficient panels.

JinkoSolar has set yet another new record in its own efforts to increase the energy efficiency of its solar panels. Specifically, JinkoSolar set its latest record with a maximum solar conversion efficiency of 26.1% for its 182mm and above large-size monocrystalline silicon TOPCon solar cell.

The results of JinkoSolar’s conversion record were confirmed by the National Institute of Metrology in China.

“A major breakthrough”

“We are proud to achieve a major breakthrough in the conversion efficiency of N-type TOPCon cells in less than half a year, breaking the record we have previously set for N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cells,” said Dr. Jin Hao, CTO of Jinko Solar.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of our talented R&D team for creating this important milestone in the innovation of the company’s products and solutions.

“We will continue to invest in R&D innovation and mass production capabilities, and to accelerate the pace of industry upgrading for advanced N-type product. We are confident to provide better returns to our customers with our cutting-edge technology and reliable supply chain.”

Hard working solar R&D

This latest record was aided in part by JinkoSolar’s research & development department, which developed interface defect passivation, highly transparent poly silicon film, and ultra-thin metallisation technologies based on a laser doped selective emitter.

According to JinkoSolar, these upgrades can be applied to large area solar cells.

The efficiency record was also further helped by the company’s self-developed HOT technologies along with a series of material upgrades integrated into the cell process.
