China PV giant claims new record efficiency rating for N-Type solar cells

November 1, 2023 by Joshua S Hill Leave a Comment

Chinese solar manufacturing megalith JinkoSolar announced on Monday that it has achieved a new record maximum solar conversion efficiency of 26.89% for its N-Type monocrystalline silicon solar cells.

JinkoSolar, which is one of the largest solar module manufacturers in the world, achieved the “major technical breakthrough” for its 182mm-and-above high-efficiency N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cell.

The result was independently verified by China’s National PV industry Measurement and Testing Center.

“We are proud to have achieved another major breakthrough in the conversion efficiency of N-type TOPCon cells, breaking the record we have previously set for N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cells,” said Dr. Jin Hao, CTO of Jinko Solar.

Helping to push the maximum solar conversion efficiency, JinkoSolar’s research and development department has developed advanced metallisation enhancement technology, high energy bulk material passivation technology, as well as a high-performance light trapping passivating contact technology.

Together, JinkoSolar believes these technologies can be applicable to large area solar cells.

Additionally, JinkoSolar’s self-developed HOT technologies and a series of material upgrades were all integrated into the cell process that helped set the new record.

“I want to thank our talented R&D team for their efforts in creating this important milestone in the innovation of the company’s products and solutions,” added Hao.

“We will continue to invest in R&D innovation and mass production capabilities, and to accelerate the pace of industry upgrading for advanced N-type product.

“We are confident to provide better returns to our customers with our cutting-edge technology and reliable supply chain.”
