Trina Solar begins mass production of 505W PV modules

Chinese solar manufacturing giant Trina Solar has begun mass production of its new Vertex S+ 505W n-type dual-glass solar modules at its factory in Changzhou, China.

The first module rolled off the production line on January 25, marking the beginning of mass production.

Specifically designed for commercial and industrial rooftops, the Vertex S+ 505W offers both higher power output but also lower balance of system (BoS) and levelized cost of energy (LCoE), helping customers obtain a shorter payback time.

The solar panels combine n-type i-TOPCon technology with 210mm rectangular silicon wafer (210R) cell technology in a dual-glass module that yields up to 505W power with an efficiency of 22.7%.

Boasting a longer lifespan than some p-type competitors and less light-induced degradation (1% first-year and 0.4% annual degradation) with a higher conversion efficiency, Trina Solar hopes that its new modules will provide greater peace of mind to customers looking to improve their site’s long-term energy efficiency.

The new Vertex S+ 505W modules measure 1961mm by 1134mm with a width of only 30mm, the 1.6 + 1.6mm dual-glass module weighs only 23.5kg.

Trina Solar expects this combination of size and weight will help simplify large-scale commercial installation while also offering a variety of flexible installation options for deployment.

Further, the new panels come with a 30-year performance warranty and 25-year product warranty.

Having only recently made its official debut in Europe at the Trina Solar booth at Genera in Spain on February 6, mass production is expected to guarantee full delivery to Europe, Australia, Asia Pacific, and other regions.
