Record-breaking new rooftop solar panel launches in Australia

Leading Chinese solar technology manufacturer Aiko has launched a new 480W residential solar panel in Australia which boasts Australia’s highest module efficiency of 24 per cent.

The 480W Neostar 2P residential solar panel is produced at Aiko’s state-of-the-art facility in Zhuhai, China, and is now ready for shipping to Australia.

Building on the success of the company’s 470W and 475W panels in the 54-cell category, the new Neostar 480W is the first residential solar panel to exceed 24 per cent in Australia – the third time in a row Aiko has broken its own record of delivering the highest efficiency residential panels to the Australian market.

Measuring a compact 1757x1134mm, the 480W Neostar 2P weighs under 22kg and occupies only 2-square metres, ensuring safer handling and ease of installation.

Initial shipments of the 480W Neostar 2P are already on their way to Aiko’s local Australian distribution partner, Solar Juice, with demand expected to be strong among premium solar installers.

The local launch of the 480W Neostar 2P follows hot on the heels of the 470W model securing approval from the Australian Clean Energy Council (CEC) in September 2024.

Wowing local installers at the time of its CEC approval, the 470W Neostar 2P delivered 23.6 per cent efficiency within the same size as most 430W and 440W panels on the market.

Seeking to further cement its leadership in Australia’s solar space, Aiko also recently partnered with the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) to launch a $6 million initiative aimed at achieving 30 per cent efficiency with interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells.
