Californian energy technology company and home battery pioneer Enphase Energy has launched a new all-in-one AC-coupled battery system in Australia.

The new IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase was launched on Monday and is capable of delivering backup power and supporting both single-phase and three-phase applications with variable power levels, granting it the flexibility to meet a range of home energy needs.

Starting at 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and expandable up to 70 kWh, the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase offers a scalable energy storage solution capable of delivering continuous power output ranging from 1.65 kW to 3.84 kW in single-phase configurations, and from 0.61 kW to 1.28 kW per phase in three-phase configurations.

This means that the new battery system is able to meet a range of local grid connection requirements and enable more capacity to be installed per home. The new batteries can also be configured to meet the needs of individual homeowners, offering grid-tied support or backup power.

Specifically, according to Enphase, the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase was built to be paired with the company’s IQ System Controller 3 INT, helping homeowners to maximise savings and reduce grid reliance, and stay powered even during grid outages.

The IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase is also fully compliant with the Australian government’s new Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which provides homeowners with an upfront discount of up to 30 per cent on eligible systems.

“Expanding the availability of the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase into Australia reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative and high-performance energy solutions that aim to help homeowners save more on their energy bills,” said Ken Fong, senior vice president of sales at Enphase Energy.

“As markets prioritize resilience and electrification, we’re providing the high-quality technology and services that can help homeowners take control of their energy independence.”

The IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase is believed to be the first AC-coupled three-phase backup solution available on the Australian market. Measuring 550mm wide, 980mm tall, and only 188mm deep, and weighing 83 kilograms, the 5P is compatible with a range of microinverters and comes with a 15-year warranty.

More information and details on how to buy the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase can be found on the Enphase Energy website here.
