Chinese battery maker Fox ESS has strengthened its foothold in the Australian market with a pair of strategic partnerships with two local distributors to deliver 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage systems.
Fox ESS signed deals with OSW, Australia’s premier solar wholesaler and distributor, and Solar Juice, one of Australia’s foremost renewable energy distributors.
The partnerships were announced at All Energy 2025 in Melbourne last week, where Fox ESS was showcasing a number of its products, including its increasingly popular home battery and electric vehicle (EV) charger.
As Renew Economy reported last week from All Energy, Fox ESS is a rapidly emerging brand the a pack of mainly old stagers, such as Alpha, Sungrow and Tesla, that are dominating installations in Australia’s booming home battery market. Well ahead of that pack, however, is Sigenergy, whose SigenStor product is believed to have around 26 per cent of the market.
The Fox ESS EQ 4800 battery storage system offers 4.66 kWh capacity per unit and the ability to stack up to nine units together for a total capacity of 42 kWh.
Part of the company’s EQ Battery range, though the only one available in Australia, the EQ 4800 boasts a maximum 100 per cent depth of discharge and an IP65 rating for use both indoors and outdoors.
With OSW, the two companies will collaborate on energy storage projects totalling 2 GWh, focusing on developing and deploying energy storage projects that support the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
“This partnership represents a commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Michael Zhu, CEO of Fox ESS.
“By pooling our expertise and resources, we can significantly contribute to the growth of energy storage solutions in Australia, addressing the increasing demand for reliable and sustainable energy. Together, we are poised to lead the charge in the energy storage space and make a lasting impact on Australia’s energy landscape.”
And with Solar Juice, the two companies will collaborate on 1GWh of battery storage projects, with a primary focus on regions experiencing the fastest growth in energy storage demand, including New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland.
The two companies also hinted that they will also look to “gradually expand their partnership to work in South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania.
“Our collaboration with Solar Juice represents a significant step forward in our commitment to enhance energy accessibility in Australia,” said Zhu.
“By leveraging Solar Juice’s extensive distribution network, we can accelerate the adoption of our innovative energy storage solutions and strengthen our brand presence in this vital market.”
Also on display at All Energy was the H3 Smart advanced hybrid inverter, which has built-in WiFi and LAN, a screen for real-time data monitoring and quick settings adjustments, and compatibility with multiple virtual power plant (VPP) platforms including Amber, Evergen, and Synergy.
The Fox ESS KH series single phase inverter was also introduced at All Energy 2025, engineered for maximum round-trip efficiency and easy installation thanks to flexible configurations and IP65 ratings.
