Chinese solar manufacturing giant Trina Solar announced this week that it has begun mass production of its Vertex N 700W+ series solar modules, marking what it says is the start of the “PV 7.0 Era”.

Trina Solar’s Vertex N 700W+ series offers module efficiency up to 22.5% and it says they are the first TOPCon modules to be mass produced with power exceeding 700W, making them the most powerful of their type in the world.

According to Trina Solar, their Vertex N modules are to be continuously upgraded thanks to the continued improvement of its 210mm n-type module production line, with a 10W to 15W increase in power output due in 2024.

The first n-type i-TOPCon cells rolled off the production line in Qinghai province in early August, with cell efficiency for the company’s newly-mass produced cells (as compared to modules) reaching 25.8%.

Trina’s cell production capacity is due to reach 75GW by the end of the year, including 40GW of n-type cells, all of which are equipped with n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology.

The company’s Vertex N 700W+ series modules have passed a comprehensive range of tests by the Renewable Energy Test Center in California, including improved performance in variable temperatures and low-light environments.
