Solar Insiders Podcast December 14

December 14, 2017 by Giles Parkinson and Nigel Morris Leave a Comment

Smart meters, dumb rules. How often have we heard those seemingly contradictory thoughts go together?
First was in Victoria, where the mandatory rollout was undermined by third-class planning. Now the same problems are being felt elsewhere, particularly under the misnamed Power of Choice mandate.
If that sounds like a contradiction in terms, it probably is. The market rule maker, as Stefan Jarnason from Solar Analytics explains, has piled one rule upon another making the whole scheme almost unmanageable.
Jarnason echoes a common complaint in the solar industry. Meanwhile, regular insiders Giles Parkinson and Nigel Morris go over the latest news, including record solar installations, a smaller than expected battery storage market, and yet more dodgy practices.
