Jinko launches 460W “Tiger” solar module in Australia

October 24, 2019 by Sophie Vorrath Leave a Comment

JinkoSolar has launched a new, high efficiency solar panel onto the Australian market, offering up 460W generation capacity, and a module efficiency of just over 20 per cent.

The Chinese solar giant officially launched the new Mono PERC module at sideline event to the All-Energy Australia conference and exhibition in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Dubbed the Tiger, Jinko says it has been able to offer sunlight conversion efficiency of up to 20.78% due to the use half-cut cell design and its Tiling Ribbon technology.

“Our new Tiger module delivers significantly higher power output and an easy performance boost that doesn’t require much extra effort for customers to install,” said Kangping Chen, CEO of JinkoSolar,

“This is another step forward technologically for JinkoSolar and demonstrates our ability to innovate advanced technologies as we accelerate towards the era of grid parity.”

The launch comes just a couple of months after market competitor Longi launched its own new high efficiency module – also in Melbourne – with the Hi-MO X, offering up to 20 per cent efficiency.

Both the Longi and Jinko modules use DuPont’s Tedlar as the backsheet material, which automatically qualifies them for the relatively new MAST certification from Australia’s Clean Energy Council, that encourages quality product choices by distributors and installers.

JinkoSolar, meanwhile, last month pledged to source 70 per cent of its electricity needs with renewable energy by 2023, and 100 per cent by 2025.
