Premium global solar manufacturer REC Group has announced the launch of the second generation of its premium n-type mono solar panels, REC N-Peak 2 Series, with production set to begin in August and shipping worldwide in October.
The modules, which can deliver up to 375Wp of power, are based on TOPCon (also known as passivated contact) solar cells, which REC describes as the most efficient crystalline cell technology in the industry, capturing more sunlight and generating more power.
The 60-cell modules also features the REC ‘Twin’ cell layout design, where the panel is split into two twin sections, which allows for continued energy production by the modules even when partially shaded.
On its website, the Norway-founded and now Singapore-based company says the panels are ideal for residential and smaller commercial and industrial rooftops, where as much power as possible needs to be packed in to a limited space and where higher power levels need to be achieved with fewer modules.
REC’s solar cell technology also prevents the loss of power generation capacity experienced by a standard solar panel on its first exposure to light, known as Light Induced Degradation (LID), by preventing the boron and oxygen inside the cells from mixing at any level.
“The panel’s power remains the same as when it left the REC factory – meaning you always get exactly the power levels that you paid for,” the company said in a statement.
“These panels enable you to pack in higher power into a limited space and achieve greater power levels with fewer panels.”
The N-Peak 2 panels, which are expected to arrive in Australia towards the end of the year, alongside the rest of the world, are also eligible for the REC ProTrust 25-year warranty, as long as they are installed by REC Certified Solar Professional installers.
“REC guarantees power output in year 25 of the panel’s service life of at least 92% – ensuring a long bright future for every installation,” the company says.
In terms of appearance, the N-Peak 2 panels come standard with black-coloured half-cut monocrystalline cells and a black frame, as well as in “full-black,” with a black backsheet, for a lower profile appearance.

“Following the launch of the game-changing, lead-free REC Alpha Pure Series, and the fourth generation of the popular REC TwinPeak Series, the new N-Peak 2 is REC’s third new product announcement in just three months.
