Australia Post begins solar and battery rollout across Queensland sites

July 23, 2025 by Joshua S Hill Leave a Comment

Australia Post has begun the rollout of solar, battery, and LED lighting upgrades at sites across Queensland, part of the company’s multi-million-dollar energy efficiency program and decarbonisation strategy.

While Australia Post has been relatively tight lipped about exactly what the upgrades look like – saying only that they are rolling out solar, battery, and LED lighting upgrades – the government-owned postal giant expects the upgrades to help save over 1,720 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Upgrades have already been made to sites at Coorparoo and Logan City, and work has begun at Mansfield, with a further eight facilities to receive energy efficiency upgrades over the coming months, including Bundaberg, Darra, Helensvale, Mt Isa, Nerang, Noosaville, and Rockhampton.

Australia Post has been contacted for specific details about the upgrades being made.

Australia Post’s chief sustainability officer Richard Pittard said in a statement that the upgrades will reflect the corporation’s commitment to delivering more sustainable services while supporting local industry.

“These energy upgrades are not only helping us reduce emissions but also build momentum as we target net zero by 2050,” said Pittard. “This investment also supports our local communities by engaging regional contractors and suppliers.”

The energy efficiency upgrades build on a growing range of sustainability initiatives Australia Post is delivering across Queensland, including the introduction of 605 electric delivery vehicles (EDVs).
