Australian solar and storage research firm SunWiz has published a list of the country’s top solar panel and inverter manufacturers at the close of 2022, with China still dominating across both categories.

Publicly available data from SunWiz is limited to the top 10 solar panel and inverter manufacturers (below). Additional analysis rests behind the company’s Luminate product, but reports have shown a basic analysis of the market share of Australia’s solar industry.

According to SunWiz, Chinese solar panel manufacturers finished 2022 with a market share above 70%, while Chinese inverter manufacturers hit a combined market share just shy of 60%.

The previous two years has seen European inverter manufacturers drop around 10 percentage points in market share, which has been mostly eaten up by Chinese manufacturers.

Meanwhile, even though so-called “premium” brands had eked back some ground towards the end of 2021, the return to form for Chinese manufacturers saw premium brands market share drop below 20%.

The top 10 solar panel manufacturers in 2022 in alphabetical order were:

  • Canadian Solar
  • Hanwha Q Cells
  • Hyundai
  • JA Solar
  • Jinko
  • Longi
  • REC
  • Risen
  • Sunpower
  • Trina Solar

The top 10 inverter manufacturers in 2022 in alphabetical order were:

  • Enphase
  • Fronius
  • Goodwe
  • Growatt
  • Huawei
  • SMA
  • Sofar Solar
  • Solar Edge
  • Solis
  • Sungrow
