Brisbane based energy storage company Chelion Australia has unveiled a new commercial all-in-one (CAIO) lithium iron phosphate battery cabinet.

Chelion Australia announced Tuesday that the integrated components of its Matrix CAIO battery cabinet had been granted Clean Energy Council (CEC) approval for sale in Australia.

The Matrix CAIO boasts roundtrip efficiency of 95%, an IP65-rated design, and a flexible and modular design, meaning that it can be rapidly deployed on an external concrete slab.

According to the company, the “true innovation” of the new battery cabinet is its modular rack system which can accommodate 90kW of bi-directional AC-DC inverter capacity, or up to 120kW of DC-DC PV inversion, or a combination of PCS, PV, and Static Transfer Switch (STS) “for a truly hybrid system.”

The Matrix CAIO can also be strung in parallel with an external power conversion system (PCS) for customers requiring up to 452kWh of storage.

The lithium iron phosphate cells deliver increased safety, higher energy density, lower cost, and longer cycle life, when compared to more traditional types of batteries.

“We are excited to introduce our new commercial battery storage solutions to the Australian market and beyond,” said Craig Nalder, CEO of Chelion Australia.

“By generating and storing their own clean energy with Chelion’s commercial battery systems, commercial customers will soon enjoy greater energy independence.”

The Matrix CAIO is designed to provide for various applications including peak shaving and load shifting for large commercial businesses, support for microgrids and community battery applications, contingency frequency control services, and backup power services.

The first installations of the Matrix CAIO are already reportedly underway throughout New South Wales.

Chelion Australia is part of the larger Chelion Renewables Group, headquartered in Shanghai, which delivers battery solutions across the Asia Pacific region.
