Leading solar manufacturer Canadian Solar has this week launched its new N-type solar module, boasting maximum output up to 660Wp and a conversion efficiency of up to 24.4 per cent, and capable of delivering up to a 5 per cent reduction in levelised cost of energy.
Available for both utility applications as well as commercial & industrial (C&I) systems, the new addition to Canadian Solar’s TOPCon 2.0 module series integrates innovations to increase energy yield and system value so as to deliver maximum system performance and output.
The new TOPBiHiKu CS6.2 module series – which is currently on display at Intersolar Europe at the Canadian Solar booth – utilises fine line printing to reduce solar finger width by over 30 per cent, minimising shading and improving incident light utilisation. An advanced firing process improves contact resistance and reduces carrier recombination in the contact area, increasing open-circuit voltage by 10 mV.
Other innovations include rear polysilicon optimisation, helping to achieve bifaciality of up to 90%, and next-generation passivation, which increases cell efficiency.
All told, the new N-type module boasts an optimised temperature coefficient of -0.28%/°C and enables up to 2 per cent lower balance of system costs, and up to a 5 per cent reduction in LCoE compared to standard TOPCon PV modules.
“The CS6.2 module-series represents a significant leap forward in solar technology, delivering highest module efficiency, significantly lower LCOE, and greater sustainability for utility and commercial and industrial PV projects,” said Thomas Koerner, corporate senior vice president of Canadian Solar
“With this launch, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation and customer centric developments as a leader of the global energy transition.”
