Solar Insiders Podcast: Why are some councils turning off solar?

September 27, 2018 by Giles Parkinson and Nigel Morris 4 Comments

Some councils have rejected large scale and rooftop solar installations. In Victoria, a development application for a 150MW solar plant was rejected unanimously, with one local columnist warning about solar panels heating up local crops.
Another council in NSW is taking a dim view of a new project in New England, while at least two councils have rejected panels on council rooftops for varying reasons. We discuss what’s going on.
Plus: A preview of the All-Energy conference, to be held in Melbourne next week – bringing together the solar and storage industry, and all the latest in technology and business model ideas for the future grid.
RenewEconomy will be hosting a “live podcast “that combines Energy Insiders and Solar Insiders, as well as its new EV-focused TheDriven podcast. It will be held at lunchtime on the first day – come along and say hello.

Giles Parkinson, in his capacity as editor of www.TheDriven.io, will  be chairing a session at the elective vehicle stream hosted by the Electric Vehicle Council, while Nigel Morris will be speaking at various events in the solar stream.
And there’s plenty more, as we discuss in the podcast, that you can find out at the All Energy website.
